Continuing our winter movie series, “Hacksaw Ridge” will be shown on Sat. Feb. 25th at 1:00 and 3:45 p.m.
Find out what all the buzz is about with this film receiving six Academy Award nominations, among them Best Director, Best Picture and Best Actor. This film recounts the amazing true story of conscientious objector Desmond T. Doss who saved 75 men in Okinawa, during the bloodiest battle of WWII, without firing a shot. Believing that the war was just but killing was nevertheless wrong, he was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon. As an army medic, he single-handedly evacuated the wounded near enemy lines - braving enemy fire and putting his life in peril. Doss was the first conscientious objector to ever win the Congressional Medal of Honor.
With the Academy Awards taking place Feb. 26th, this is just in time to see what might be the year’s best picture.
As always, free will donations help keep the movie series running. Thank you!
